Niigaanibatowaad: FrontRunners

In 1967 Winnipeg hosted the Pan American Games. Ten outstanding First Nation boys were chosen to the run 800 kms over 5 days from Minneapolis to Winnipeg over an ancient message route with the Games torch. When they arrived at the stadium they were stopped and not allowed to enter with the torch. Instead it was given to a non-Aboriginal runner to bring the torch into the stadium.

MNCFN (PAGS) is seeking interested community members between the ages of 1-70+ to participate in the MNCFN community Torch Bearer Activation in June 2015. We will be selecting 8 individuals to represent our community. Deadline for submissions is January 23 at noon (no exceptions). All selected individuals must wear traditional regalia.
